Bingo and 50/50 Draw

  • Open to anyone 19 years and older.
  • Friday afternoons the doors open 10:45, Hot dogs and snacks are sold at 11:30,
    50/50 last call is 12:40
    Bingo Paper Sales and Loonie Pot CLOSE at 12:50 and Bingo play starts at 1:00
  • We have a BCLC Provincial Gaming License for both Bingo and 50/50
  • Maximum capacity is 198 
  •  We are always looking for new volunteers to help run Bingo.

Pool

  • The pool room is open daily  for drop in for two sessions – from 10:00 to 12:30 and 12:30 – 3:00 Monday to Friday and 9:30 – 12;00 Saturdays if we are open.
  • Three well-spaced, professional snooker tables occupy a dedicated room.

Music

We are very proud to have the excellent  Volunteer Band playing for our Wednesday afternoons and for Saturday morning dances September through June:

  • Saturday dances feature polkas, waltz, jive, two-step and similar dances. $ 3 per person.
  • Wednesday afternoons, 1:00 – 3:00 we have open mic/jam sessions with drop-in guest musicians and vocalists.  Payment by donation

 Ladies Keep Fit Program 

Our popular Ladies  Keep Fit program (40+ years) is a long-standing, volunteer-led exercise program that has been vetted by health professionals. The focus is on gentle stretching, flexibility, balance, and maintaining mobility, with very little cardio activity involved.Classes run from fall through late spring, with breaks during Christmas and the summer months.

Class Schedule

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM
  • Please arrive by 8:30 AM to sign in and prepare for class.

What to Bring

  • Water bottle
  • Comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement
  • Clean, dry indoor footwear such as running or fitness shoes
  • Socks for floor mat exercises

Participants are asked to sanitize and put away mats and chairs after use.

Many members enjoy staying afterward for coffee and conversation, making Keep Fit a wonderful opportunity for both exercise and social connection.

Co-ed Cardio and Strength Fitness (September to April)

Our co-ed fitness programs at the Oliver Senior Centre are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, October to Easter. Both classes are for both men and women . The first class (1:00 – 2:00) is appropriate for most seniors. The second class (2:15 – 3:15) is for seniors with health or physical limitations. 

The Senior Centre has floor mats (you are welcome to bring your own if you wish), but no other equipment so please bring a stretch band and weights for some of the strength exercises. If you don’t have one or aren’t sure what that is, come anyway without one. Please also bring water to keep yourself hydrated.

Cardio/Strength

    • For men and women of all fitness levels.
    • Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00 pm, stopping for the summer in mid April.
    • Each class is 45 mins to an hour and will start promptly on time. Arrive a little early to sign in.

Chair (Modified) Fitness

    • For men and women with limited mobility, physical issues or health limitations. 
    • Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:15 pm, stopping for the summer in mid April.
    • Each class is 45 mins to an hour and will start promptly on time. Arrive a little early to sign in.

Fees for activities throughout the Centre are usually $2 for members, $3 for non-members, per session

Line Dancing

  • Line dancing  is Thursday mornings 9:30 – 11:30.  Line dancing is fun exercise for both body and mind with a great group of people.
  • The group are taught dance patterns from beginner through novice and intermediate skill levels and dance those patterns to a wide variety of music. Beginners dance 9:30 – 10:30. The Advanced Class is 10:30 to 11:30. then the more experienced dancers continue to 11:30. 

Indoor Walking

  • Self-paced walking in the main hall.
  • Indoor exercise footwear required.

Cards 

Cribbage

Wednesday afternoons at 1:00  – we have the cards, boards and tables! Bring a friend! 

Bridge

Thursday afternoons at 1:00. 

Tuesday Game Day

Get together with friends or come alone to play Mexican Train dominoes, Euchre, or pretty much any game you fee like! Starting at 1:00 in the lounge/library.

Floor Curling

Wednesday mornings 10:00 – 12:00. We have two sheets available, allowing room for at least 16 players at a time. Ends in April

Carpet Bowling 

Monday mornings at 10:00 in the main hall. We have two lanes available and we have the bowls. Ends in April
