May General Meeting
Dear Members,
The Board of Directors would like to inform members that the scheduled May General Meeting will not be held at this time.
Unfortunately, some members of the Board have recently stepped down due to family commitments, which has temporarily reduced our capacity to properly prepare for and conduct the meeting. Many thanks to those people for their work on the Board prior to their leaving. Our First Vice President Valerie Skeet and Second Vice President Roberta Casselman have taken over the oversight of the Board.
The Board felt it was important to ensure that any General Meeting is held with adequate leadership and preparation in place.
We appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition period.
We have been able to move forward with the project to fix the water main break and re-pave the impacted area of the parking lot.
We are establishing a number of Committees and welcome any of our members to participate on them. There will be an Events Committee, an Activities Committee, a Financial Committee and a Membership/Volunteer Committee.
We have also established a Nomination Committee who will be contacting members to consider being on the Board of Directors at our Annual General Meeting in November. Being a director is a great way to help shape the future of the Centre, bring forward new ideas, and ensure we continue to offer a welcoming and active place for seniors in our community.
We are also working on changing the existing Bylaws. We will be having a General Meeting in September to vote on the new bylaws. We will provide members with the proposed Bylaw changes prior to the Meeting so members can review them.
As we move into the summer, please let us know what types of new programs and events you would like us to have in the Fall and Winter.
Thank you for your continued support of the Senior Centre and its activities.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
