REMINDER – NOTICE OF SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING
DATE: MONDAY MORNING, AUGUST 11th at 10:30 am
AT: Oliver Senior Centre, 5876 Airport Street, Oliver, BC
1. Secretary position is vacant
Our Bylaws state, in Article 5,
“Section 4: Vacancies in Office: In the event of a vacancy in any office, the members of the Society shall elect a person to fill that vacancy at a Special General Meeting to be held within two (2) weeks of such an occurrence.”
Kristy Sutherland, our Secretary, resigned her office on Friday, August 1st. We therefore require a Special General Meeting to fill this vacancy. We do have a candidate (Aleatha Zygmunt) available to fill this office for the balance of the term (until Dec 31st) and another candidate (Val Skeet) is available to fill a vacant director’s seat on the Board and to manage the concession and concession inventory control.
2. There is also a Gaming licensing rule we need to share with the membership and clarify. It is:
BC Licensed Charitable Gaming Rule 3.3
“Participation of Organization Members, Board Members and those listed as responsible for the conduct and management (officers responsible) of an event are not permitted to participate in any gaming events held by the organization.
At the discretion of the officers or members responsible for the event, all other volunteers may be permitted to purchase entry into events that they are not actively volunteering at the time of purchase.”

I promise the meeting will be short and will only deal with what is urgent. This is not a regular General Meeting and will not include the usual agenda, but questions will be allowed at the end of the business.
