REMINDER – Special General Meeting Monday June 17th at 1:30
We have a Special General Meeting today at 1:30 to complete a few important items we were unable to take to a vote when we had too few present to make a quorum at our last meeting on May 21st. The minutes of that meeting are attached below.
The items of concern are:
-
- Paving and parking lot crack repairs
Quotes to date were:
a. 2023 – over $5,000.00 for crack filling only
b. 2024 – March 6th – SG Asphalt Maintenance, Penticton – $ 8592.00 for crack
– April 2nd – SG Asphalt maintenance – $ 5244.75 (requiring us to clean all the cracks)
c. Black Top Paving – Penticton $3,075 + tax
This company is well-known locally and is used by the Town of Oliver. This quote includes the cost of re-paving the large area that was excavated for the leak repair. They assured me the crack will be cleaned out, soil sterilant used to prevent regrowth and the repairs will be good for “at least 3-5 years”. We will not find a better price. - We need new entrance mats, which cost in the range of $700 plus tax each for the 6′ x 18′ size we need – it’s a custom order. One of our existing rugs has broken edges, making it a triping hazard – it should be discarded. We have no entry rug at the back doors where the band comes in. I would suggest 2 new rugs at the front entry and relocating the good mat from the front to the back at a cost of about $1550.00. Several sources include U-line, CanadaMats.ca, and of course, some Amazon alternatives.
- Rising Costs – We can raise membership fees, user fees, or both. Which is the best alternative to encourage participation, keep costs low and still be able to cover ever-increasing maintenance costs? Membership fees this year generated $6500 since Oct 1, our busiest 4 months of activity revenues, Jan – April, (excluding Bingo and events) was $7,341.00 – a small part of our revenue to date of over $70,000.
